The Windy City Bulls snapped a four game losing streak by defeating the Canton Charge Friday night 108-96 in Hoffman Estates at the Sears Centre arena.
The Bulls, while wearing their promotional Dog night jerseys, were led by JaKarr Sampson who scored 27 points while grabbing nine boards. Windy City Bulls head coach Charlie Henry pointed out after the win, “For us playing the five that’s very rare to have a guy that can shoot threes and drive the ball and defensively he can really anchor defense he can be up in the pick and roll, he can switch, he’s a great weapon have.” All five starters finished with over 10 points with Mychal Mulder finishing with 16 points, 12 of which came from behind the arc, hoping his teammates with four assists and grabbing two rebounds. Star two-way player Rawle Alkins had 13 points, four boards and three assists in 29 minutes. Bulls newcomer Walter Lemon Jr. finished with 10 points team-high seven assists and also attacking the glass with seven rebounds. Coach Henry also talked about Lemon Jr after the game “You know what he is going to do to help us score the ball. He has a proven track record in the G-league to be a very dynamic point guard.” CJ Fair and Kaiser Gates both contributed to the victory with 11 points and three total assists.
Bonzie Colson led the way for Canton, having his third consecutive double-double being number 5 on the season. He tallied a team-high 19 points and attacked the glass grabbing 12 rebounds. Kobi Simmons and Scoochie Smith both contributed 18 points and added a sum of 14 rebounds and 13 assists. Isaac Hamilton had 14 points playing only 15 minutes of the bench. Levi Randolph also tallied 14 points for the Charge. Emmanuel Terry finished with six points, three rebounds, two assists and three blocks playing a total of 24 minutes.
The Bulls shot 50% from the field, while also shooting 50% from behind the arc as well, for just the second time this season and snapped a six-game streak in which the opposing team had a better shooting percentage than themselves. The win marks the first time Windy City has won at the Sears Centre Arena since defeating the Lakeland Magic 96-71 on Nov. 2. Windy City is now 6-4 all-time against the Charge.
They have a back to back and will play the Capital City Go-Go Saturday night at the Sears centre arena in Hoffman Estates.
