Illinois Media School has 13 finalists for (IBS) Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s 78th annual International GOLDEN MIC awards.
Students, staff and stations recognized for outstanding broadcast achievement at a national level.

Chicago/Lombard, IL. – Illinois Media School has been recognized with 13 finalists in 11 separate categories for the nationally recognized GOLDEN MIC Awards through the (IBS) Intercollegiate Broadcasting System. The IBS receives nominations from colleges and universities across the nation from small schools to the largest universities.
Students and hosts submit examples of their work in the given categories based on the staunch requirements of the committee, which is then reviewed by a national peer board. There are up to 6 finalists per category. The finalists are then invited to New York City for the 78th annual IBS international Conference. It is a 3-day conference that invites all finalists to converge upon Hotel Pennsylvania to learn and share ideas about the broadcast and media industry featuring over 150 speakers, sessions, tours, and over 1,000 attendees.
The finalists are:

-Best Streaming Only Radio Station (Under 10,000 Students) TWO FINALISTS
-Best Public Affairs Event/Promotion – 7th Annual Illinois All Star Volleyball Game
-Best Live Music Broadcast - Live Music Broadcast: Antonia Rendon
-Best News Report (Video/TV) - Heartland Blood Drive - Tjada Bulter & Shawnta Washington
-Best Comedy Program (Video/TV) TWO FINALISTS
-The Cheating Couple – March/April 2017 Colee Royce, Rudy Castillo, James Wilhite and Monica Byrne
